In anticipation of a potential upcoming storm event this weekend, Cascade determined that it is advisable to lower the Lake Tapps Reservoir level beginning Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, from its then level of 541.9 feet to protect the dikes from wave action due to predicted high winds and heavy rain.
Just after 6:00 pm Thursday, Cascade opened Valve No. 1, releasing approximately 450 – 470 cfs through the tailrace. The plan is to release at this level until early Monday (Oct. 17) morning. This will lower the reservoir level by about 1 foot, to approximately 540.9 feet.
Following this event, Cascade will not put any additional water in the reservoir but will let fall and winter weather add to the levels.
