Health Dept Issues Toxic Algae Caution Advisory for Lake Tapps

The Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department has identified a toxic algae bloom in Lake Tapps. If there is no visible algae, it should be safe to swim and waterski. Areas with algae are unsafe for people and pets and should be avoided. At this time, the algae seems to be primarily in the northeast area of the lake, along the north shore of Tapps Island, however, as wind direction changes, the algae could be blown to other areas of the lake.
